Federal Roads Office (FEDRO)

The Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) was established in 1998 as Switzerland's federal authority responsible for road infrastructure and private road transport. It belongs to the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC), and focuses on securing sustainable and safe mobility on the country's roads.

Welcome to FEDRO's new website! As well as its new, more spacious design, the site features improved navigation and a better structure. However, you may still encounter a few “teething problems”. Please do not hesitate to report them to us at the following address: webmaster@astra.admin.ch
We hope you enjoy exploring the new website!

Vehicle data

FEDRO offers data records on vehicle stocks, new registrations and vehicle types from the Vehicle Admission Information System (VAIS). This includes data records on vehicle totals, new registrations and vehicle types. No personal information is disclosed.

ASTRA Bridge

The ASTRA Bridge is a mobile construction site bridge that is designed for use during motorway maintenance work. Traffic can be re-routed over it while roadworks are carried out underneath. This allows works to be carried out during the day without closing any carriageways or diverting traffic. There is generally no need to close lanes or reduce lane widths or speed on the opposite carriageway, and the length of the roadworks site can be kept shorter.
